Congratulations on receiving a Fulbright grant! The resources on this page are designed to familiarize you with your host location and provide important context and information as you prepare to travel abroad. As part of your Fulbright grant, you are required to attend a virtual Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) from July 15-18, 2024. The PDO will provide sessions and activities to help you prepare for your upcoming experience. You will receive an email in mid-June that will direct you to the PDO website where you can register for the event. If you have any questions regarding the PDO, please email FulbrightPDO.AF@iie.org.

Dr. Nishanta “Nishi” Rajakaruna is a professor in the Biological Sciences Department at California Polytechnic State University. He has taught botany for 20 years and received two Fulbright Scholar Awards, to Sri Lanka and South Africa, as well as two Fulbright Regional Travel Program Grants, to India and Madagascar.

Grantees proposing a teaching component must teach undergraduate or graduate courses designated by host institutions or do a combination of teaching and research in their area of specialization. If teaching, the grantee must contribute to curriculum development, supervise research, advise theses and provide tutorials, as needed.
