Guidance for Your Project Statement (Samples)
A complete Fulbright Scholar application contains many elements. One of the most important elements review committees look for is your project statement. The Fulbright Scholar Program may be used for either teaching or for research, or both.
Whether you plan to conduct research or teach abroad, the project statement functions as your best opportunity to “speak” directly to Fulbright reviewers. Limited to just five pages, the statement should frame your background, particular interests, teaching and research philosophy, relevant experience, adaptability, planned activities and anticipated outcomes. With so much to cover and with varied audiences, the statement should be thoughtfully constructed and especially well-written.
Much like there is no profile of a typical Fulbrighter, there is no universal model of a successful project statement. Scholars and professionals apply to the program as individuals rather than as work teams or departments. Each application is therefore unique.
