A new Fulbright Early Career Award Designation is in effect immediately for all awards listed below. This designation indicates that the host institutions are especially interested in inviting and developing promising applicants in the earlier stages of their careers. These promising applicants can include, but are not limited to, untenured faculty, adjuncts, post-docs., assistant professors and associate professors. They are the kind of scholars whose careers may lead to scholarship that can influence disciplines, improve institutional capacity within higher education and shape discourse between the United States and participating Fulbright countries.
Grants tagged with the Early Career Award Designation are exempt from many of the eligibility requirements listed in the original awards description. For example, a grant listed on this page may state in the award description under Additional Qualifications, “at least 10 years postdoctoral teaching experience required.” For any grant tagged with the Early Career Award Designation, as stated on this web page, this requirement of postdoctoral teaching experience is waived. If an award description requires a PhD, however, that would still be required. The Early Career Award Designation waives the minimum number of years required for either lecturing or research, and indicates that the award is open to all post-doctoral applicants regardless of experience.
