Israeli post-doc Ofra Tirosh-Becker studied Hebrew and
Judeo-Arabic at Harvard.

Among the Israeli scholars in 1999-2000 was Ofra Tirosh-Becker,
a Fulbright postdoctorate who spent her 12-month grant studying
Hebrew and Judeo-Arabic at Harvard University's Center for Jewish
Studies. For a young academic like Tirosh-Becker, the grant will
have a significant impact on her career.
While at Harvard, she had the opportunity to join an international
group of scholars studying medieval Judeo-Arabic culture. She
also gained access to collections and resources crucial to her
research.
Having returned to the Department of Hebrew Literature at the
Hebrew University, she now plans "to integrate the knowledge
that I have acquired to expose Israeli students to the most recent
contributions of U.S. scholars in my field." She also believes
that her year abroad will lead to future collaborations with her
American colleagues and "will add another link to the rich
bi-national network of scientific and cultural collaborations."
