Marwan Mousa, Professor, Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and Letters, Istanbul Technical University, Maslak, Istanbul, Turkey
Research: Magnetic and Magneto-Transport Measurements on Thin Films of Amorphous Magnetic Alloys
Host: Texas A&M University, Department of Physics, College Station, TX
c/o Dr. D.G. Naugle
September 1999-March 2000

Jordanian physicist Marwan Mousa visited Washington, D.C. during his Fulbright sojourn.

Among this year's science grantees was Jordanian physicist Marwan Mousa, a professor at Mu'tah University in Al-Karak. For years, Mousa has worked with several well-known international groups to master a variety of techniques and methodologies in field ion and field emission microscopy.

Through his recent Fulbright grant to Florida International University (FIU), Mousa was able to work with associate professor Mark Hagmann of FIU's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Hagmann recently discovered a new quantum resonance, which Mousa applied to his study of dynamic conductance in field emission.

"We had a very productive time, with successful scientific outcomes in terms of electron source development," said Hagmann. The results of the collaborative research conducted by Mousa and Hagmann were presented at the International Field Emission Society symposium in July 2000 and should be published in 2001.
