Visiting Scholars
Gain Experience in U.S. Higher Education
Unlike other programs within Fulbright, SIR primarily serves the needs of institutions historically underserved by international scholarly exchange – primarily Historically-Black Colleges, Hispanic-serving institutions, tribal colleges, community colleges and small, liberal arts institutions.
As a Scholar-in-Residence, you would help institutions upgrade and internationalize their curricula, give advice on faculty development and conduct lectures from a comparative perspective. The experience you will gain from your work in SIR will help burnish your own lecturing and inform your own research.
You will also participate in diversifying the experiences of students, faculty and surrounding communities.
Read case studies to learn more about what your colleagues outside the United States have accomplished through SIR. You will also learn how to submit your qualifications for consideration by potential host institutions, Fulbright Commissions and the Public Affairs Sections of U.S. Embassies abroad.
Thank you for exploring Fulbright.
