The Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), under a cooperative agreement with the United States Department of State, administers the Fulbright Scholar Program for faculty and professionals. Each year, the traditional Fulbright Scholar Program sends some 800 U.S. faculty and professionals to 140 countries to lecture, do research or participate in seminars, and some 800 foreign faculty come to the U.S.

Directories of recent participants in the U.S. Program Scholar Directory or Visiting Program Scholar Directory can be accessed online.

The Senior Specialists Program offers short-term grants of two to six weeks. The New Century Scholars Program brings 30 top academics and professionals from around the world together each year to collaborate on an issue of global importance.

If you are a journalist or college/university public relations person and have questions about the program or a particular scholar, please e-mail or call Nancy Gainer, director of external relations at 202.686.4014 (ngainer@cies.iie.org).

The Scholar Program offers grants for journalists and other communicators. If you are a potential applicant please select a Fulbright Program.
