Fulbright Visiting Scholars were hosted in Denver, CO during April 11-14 for the 2007 Fulbright Visiting Scholar's Conference.

One hundred and fourteen international Fulbright Visiting Scholars from 57 countries examined the multiple layers and jurisdictions of the U.S. legal system in the spring through "The Rule of Law: A View from the American West," a conference sponsored by the U.S. Department of State in Denver, Colorado.

At the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Conference, the scholars participated in lively discussions with regional experts on the use of the U.S. legal system by advocacy groups and businesses, as well as the complex relationship between the law and economically disadvantaged people and minority groups.

A mock jury selection at the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado highlighted the conference. Scholars experienced active citizen participation as they went through the process of being selected for a simulated jury. In the afternoon, scholars also visited the local municipal court or chose to engage in dynamic group discussions on corporate wrongdoing and privacy safeguards.

In their evaluations, the scholars provided high marks for the conference, indicating that the sessions were thought-provoking and often provided positive first-hand experiences.
