Fulbright New Century Scholars Discuss Higher Education at UNESCO

The Fulbright New Century Scholars Program creates synergy each year by bringing together scholars and professionals from different spheres to focus on an issue of concern to people worldwide. Thirty-one Fulbright New Century Scholars, who are leading research scholars and professionals from 22 countries, including the United States, have collaborated for the past year to create a framework for action to improve higher education systems worldwide. Led by New Century Scholar Distinguished Leader Philip G. Altbach, director of the Center for International Higher Education in the Lynch School of Education at Boston College, the international team has been examining the topic of Higher Education in the 21st Century: Global Challenge and National Response. Interfaith Dialogue and Community Action Program Announced

U.S. institutions are being sought to host scholars/religious leaders for a 10-12 week program focused on interfaith cooperation and community action. Participants will come from Africa, Europe, the Middle East, South and Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. Full Story >>

U.S.-German IEA Seminar Program Welcomes Applications

The U.S.-Germany International Education Administrators Program (IEA) invites applications for its next seminar to be held for two or three weeks in October 2007. Twenty-five seminar participants will gain a first-hand, in-depth look at Germany’s culture, society and higher education system. In addition to presentations by specialists, the program includes briefings by government and university officials and site visits to campuses. The itinerary also includes meetings in Berlin and other cities in Germany. Full Story >>

Invite a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence to Teach on Your Campus!

It is not too late to receive a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence for the January 2008 semester. The new application deadline is March 1, 2007. The worldwide Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program brings visiting scholars and professionals from abroad to lecture at U.S. colleges and universities for a semester or a year. Fulbright Scholars-in-Residence can have a significant impact on U.S. colleges and universities. In addition to teaching courses, scholars give campus-wide and community lectures, help initiate international programs and contribute to curriculum development. Although preference is given to proposals in the humanities or social sciences, other fields focusing on international issues such as public health or environmental science will be considered.
