U.S.-German IEA Seminar Program Welcomes Applications

GermanIEA
U.S.-German IEA Program visiting scholars attended a gathering hosted at CIES earlier this year.

The U.S.-Germany International Education Administrators Program (IEA) invites applications for its next seminar to be held for two or three weeks in October 2007. Twenty-five seminar participants will gain a first-hand, in-depth look at Germany’s culture, society and higher education system. In addition to presentations by specialists, the program includes briefings by government and university officials and site visits to campuses. The itinerary also includes meetings in Berlin and other cities in Germany.

Applicants must have U.S. citizenship; a current affiliation with a college, university or a non-profit organization involved in international exchange in higher education; and three years’ administrative experience. Successful applicants should have significant involvement with one of the following areas: international exchanges, career services, alumni affairs, or fundraising, and present a compelling statement of how they will use their IEA experience and disseminate what they will learn. Preference is given to applicants who have been at their current institutions for at least one year and who have not had extended visits to Germany in the past 10 years. Further program information, application materials and special application instructions are available at www.cies.org. www.cies.org/IEA. The application deadline for the 2007 IEA seminar in Germany is February 1, 2007.

The Fulbright Program is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State.
