Program Overview:
Most researchers are affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and pursue research independently. However, affiliation is not assured in any given year. Candidates must be prepared to be very flexible. Researchers in agricultural sciences may be affiliated with the International Center for Agriculture in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), an international organization near Aleppo. Names and addresses of contact persons in Syria are available from CIES, or potential applicants may contact Ms. Sahar Hassibi, exchanges specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Damascus, at hassibiSH@state.gov. The Embassy cannot advise applicants on proposals or seek affiliation with specific Syrian institutions.
