Awards and Benefits
Summary:  Up to nine awards for lecturing/research or lecturing.
Program Overview:  The academic year is October 2010 through June 2011 with the second semester beginning in either January or February. Letters of invitation from potential host institutions are recommended, but not required. The Commission will arrange host institution affiliation for applicants for those awards not located at a specific institution. Academic applicants must hold the rank of at least assistant professor and have a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience. Most awards are for the academic year, although one-semester awards of 4 months will be considered. For more information on Romania, visit www.cies.org/country/romania.htm.

Benefits
Stipend: $2,640-$2,860 monthly base stipend, according to the standard base stipend formula.
Maintenance: Standard maintenance. For 2008-09 the following was provided: $150-$350 per month, based on the number of accompanying dependents. A housing allowance and a stipend are paid in local currency by the host government.
Travel/Relocation: Standard travel/relocation. For 2008-09 the following was provided: $3,200-$7,600, based on the number of accompanying dependents.
Tuition Assistance: Tuition Assistance.
Other Benefits:  Book allowance of $1,500 for one- or two-semester grants for lecturing or combined lecturing/research.
