Award Benefits:

Back to Award > Travel and Relocation

A travel allowance is provided to cover round-trip international travel for the grantee to the place of assignment. Travel for up to two accompanying dependents (those who spend at least 80 percent of the grant period with the grantee abroad) is provided for grants of four months or more. Depending upon location, other relocation costs (one-time support for settling in, excess-baggage provision) are included.

In cases where international travel is provided in whole or in part by the host country government or host institution, direct Fulbright support may be adjusted accordingly. Scholars with grants of less than one semester (four months) do not receive a relocation allowance or an allowance for dependent travel.

(Note: Final 2009-2010 allocations for maintenance and travel/relocation under the standard benefits structure will be determined at the time the grant is issued, contingent on funding. For illustration purposes, figures for 2008-2009 are provided in the benefits summary for some countries.)
