Award Benefits:

Back to Award > Maintenance for Living in Country of Assignment

A monthly maintenance allowance is provided to cover local costs of living in the country of the Fulbright assignment. This is based on estimated local costs and is determined at the time the grant is issued.

The monthly maintenance is adjusted for up to two accompanying dependents (those who spend at least 80 percent of the grant period with the grantee abroad).

In some cases, housing or a housing allowance, a local salary or some other monetary contribution may be directly provided by the host institution or the host country, which may affect the Fulbright maintenance allowance.
