Program Overview:
The first semester of most universities is early January through mid-June, and the second semester is late June through early December. There is interest in a broad range of topics, with special interest in the social sciences, humanities, legal education and other fields listed under the All Disciplines award below. Scholars must be proficient in Spanish. For lecturing/research projects, candidates should plan a 60/40 ratio between teaching and research. The U.S. Embassy in San Salvador will arrange or confirm affiliations for all awards. In some cases, requested grant lengths may need to be adjusted at the discretion of the Fulbright Program.
Stipend: $2,640-$2,860 monthly base stipend, according to the standard base stipend formula.
Maintenance: Standard maintenance. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $1,300-$1,700 per month, based on the number of accompanying dependents.
Travel/Relocation: Standard travel/relocation. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $2,600-$4,800, based on the number of accompanying dependents.

Other Benefits:
Allowance of $1,000 for the purchase of books and educational materials to be donated to the host institution.
