Awards and Benefits
Summary:  Up to 12 lecturing or lecturing/research awards.
Program Overview:  The aim of the program is to enhance the study of Chile in the U.S. and the study of the U.S. in Chile, to broaden research efforts in a wide range of subjects and to strengthen the academic standards of regional universities. Academic semesters are from March to July and August to December. Awards are rarely made during the January-February period unless justified by the nature of the project and prearranged with the host institution. Preference is for candidates with senior status (5 years of experience following the terminal degree) and graduate level teaching experience, but junior scholars as well as professional candidates with compelling proposals will also be considered. For all awards, applicants should secure an expression of interest from a Chilean host institution. Awards are co-sponsored by the Chilean government's Program to Improve Quality and Equity in Higher Education (MECESUP, www.mecesup.cl). The Commission for Educational Exchange between the U.S. and Chile can assist with final confirmation of affiliations. Grant length is flexible within a range of 3-6 months. The Web site for the commission is www.fulbrightchile.cl. Commission contact is Academic Advisor Karina Sapunar, karinasapunar@fulbrightchile.cl, tel. 56.2.334.4368.
