Up to six awards for research in any academic or professional area in two or more countries of South and Central Asia.
Program Overview:
Support is provided for research projects of historical or contemporary focus, comparative or regional in scope or where data must be collected in several countries. Work must be conducted in two or more countries. Projects that involve collaboration with host country colleagues and institutions are particularly encouraged. Projects may be undertaken in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Nepal, Pakistan, Republic of the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Stipend: $1,870 monthly base stipend, according to the standard base stipend formula. Separate base stipend, maintenance and travel amounts apply for India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Obtain details from CIES.
Maintenance: Monthly maintenance, generally between $1,700 and $3,000, varies by country and number of accompanying dependents.
Tuition Assistance: Up to $5,000 per child or $10,000 per family for accompanying dependent children in grades K-12 is reimbursed for a full academic year, upon submission of receipts. Shorter periods are prorated. Reimbursement is based on actual cost of tuition and fees only.
