Awards and Benefits
Summary:  Up to seven research awards. See also research opportunities under the Middle East and North Africa Regional Research Program.
Program Overview:  Most researchers are affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and pursue research independently. Researchers in agricultural sciences will be affiliated with the International Center for Agriculture in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), an international organization near Aleppo. Benefits
Stipend: $1,870 monthly base stipend, according to the standard base stipend formula.
Maintenance: Standard maintenance. For 2006-07 the following was provided: $1,250-$1,800 per month, based on the number of accompanying dependents.
Travel/Relocation: Standard travel/relocation. For 2006-07 the following was provided: $4,500-$10,755, based on the number of accompanying dependents.
Tuition Assistance: Up to $5,000 per child or $10,000 per family for accompanying dependent children in grades K-12 is reimbursed for a full academic year. Amount is adjusted for shorter grant periods. Reimbursement is based on actual cost of tuition and fees only.
