Awards and Benefits
Summary:  Up to 10 awards for lecturing, research or combined lecturing/research. One or more serial grants possible. See also research opportunities under the Middle East and North Africa Regional Research Program.
Program Overview:  Academic year is September 2009 through June 2010. University breaks are generally November 1-6, January 9-14, January 30 to February 4 and April 7-16. Detailed information, in French, on Moroccan institutions of higher education may be found at www.dfc.gov.ma. A list of university Web sites is available from CIES. Individual contacts at particular institutions can be sought with the help of the Moroccan-American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange (Fulbright Commission) in Rabat. Visit www.macece.org for information on the Fulbright Program in Morocco. English language schooling is available, at the grantee's own expense, for accompanying dependents in Rabat, Casablanca and Tangier. Visit www.state.gov/m/a/os for information on K-12 schools.

Benefits
Stipend: $1,700 per month for researchers and junior lecturers and $2,000 per month for senior lecturers and lecturer/researchers who teach at least one full course. Amounts are paid 70% in dirhams and 30% in U.S. dollars.
Maintenance: Monthly housing allowance of $500-$800, paid in Moroccan dirhams and based on the number of accompanying dependents and location. A monthly subsistence allowance of $700-$1,400 in dirhams is also provided.
Travel/Relocation: International round-trip travel for the grantee and one dependent who accompanies the grantee for at least 4 months of the grant period. Relocation allowance of $750.
Tuition Assistance: n.a.
Other Benefits:  Excess-baggage allowance of $600. One-time research/book allowance of $500. Distinguished scholars on short-term grants receive a stipend based on U.S. government per diem rates in lieu of the base stipend or maintenance allowance.
