Program Overview:
Senior lecturing and research awards are from 3-5 months, according to the scholar's availability and the decision of the final selection committee in Spain; and in the case of lecturers, the needs of the host institution as mutually agreed with the scholar. Professional journalist awards are for 3 months. Generally, the fall semester begins in late September, and the spring semester begins in mid-February. Prospective applicants may contact the Spanish Fulbright Commission for further information: adviser@comision-fulbright.org, www.fulbright.es. An "estudiante" (student) visa is mandatory for U.S. citizens on Fulbright awards for cultural exchange activities of three months or longer. Scholars also apply under this "student" category. The Commission will provide detailed information and documentation for obtaining this initial visa from a Spanish consulate in the U.S. or other country, and after the grantee's arrival, for obtaining the card of official student status for the duration of the grant.
