Awards and Benefits
Summary:  Approximately six lecturing awards and two research awards from among the openings listed below.
Program Overview:  Academic year is from October 2009 through May or June 2010. Second semester begins February 2010. Applications are welcome in all disciplines, although preference will be given to subjects related to the United States and to applicants who will assist with curriculum and program development at their host institutions. Applications are also welcome from junior and senior scholars. Affiliations are possible at academic institutions and for collaboration with public officials and professionals at other institutions. Double affiliations may be requested. English language schools (pre-K-12) are located in Bratislava only. In major cities, there are dual-language schools where specific subjects are taught in English.

Benefits
Stipend: n.a.
Maintenance: $2,000 per month for researchers; $2,600 for lecturers at the rank of assistant professor or below; $2,800 per month for lecturers at the rank of associate or full professor. Allowance of $200 per month for one dependent and $300 per month for two or more dependents who accompany the grantee for at least 80% of the grant period. Housing allowance in Bratislava of $500 per month for a single grantee, $550 per month for grantees with one accompanying dependent and $600 per month for grantees with two or more accompanying dependents. Respective rates outside Bratislava are $250 per month, $300 per month and $350 per month. (The 12/07 exchange rate was US$1=22.60 SKK.)
Travel/Relocation: $2,500 for grantee. Dependent travel allowance of $500 for one dependent and $1,000 for two or more dependents. (To qualify for the allowance, dependents must accompany grantee for 80% of the grant period.)
Tuition Assistance: n.a.
Other Benefits:  One-time research allowance of $750 for research grants of up to 4 months and $1,500 for research grants of 5 months or more. Book allowance of up to $1,500 for lecturing grants, provided by the Commission on a reimbursable basis.
