Program Overview:
Academic year at most institutions is from September 2009 through June 2010. Second semester begins in February 2010. Depending on the subject and English proficiency of students, classes will be taught in English without interpretation or with an interpreter's assistance if requested by a host institution. Applications welcome in all areas of the social sciences and humanities, but preference will be given to subjects related to the United States and American studies, economics, particularly transitional economies and economic reform in the region. Applicants with a Ph.D. degree are given preference although professionals with extensive experience in the field will be considered. Multiple placements possible at universities in Minsk, Grodno, Mogilev, Brest and Vitebsk. There is an international English-language school (K-10) in Minsk. Stipend: $2,640-$2,860 monthly base stipend, according to the standard base stipend formula.
|
|
Maintenance: Standard maintenance. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $850-$1,150 per month, based on the number of accompanying dependents and city of placement.

Travel/Relocation: Standard travel/relocation. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $3,600-$8,800, based on the number of accompanying dependents.

Other Benefits:
Book allowance of up to $1,500, depending on the length of the grant.
