Awards and Benefits
Summary:  Up to ten awards for lecturing, research or a combination of lecturing/research.
Program Overview:  Awards are from 5 to 10 months. The first semester begins in September 2009 and the second in February 2010. Grants may be extended by two weeks for grantees who wish to do initial in-country language training, for which support is provided, or who wish to do additional in-country lecturing. Applicants must have faculty rank and a minimum of 3 years of college teaching experience beyond the terminal degree in their field. All grantees will be encouraged to travel and lecture within Indonesia, and they may be invited to participate in the cultural and educational program activities of the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Indonesia. There may also be opportunities to lecture in other East Asian and Pacific countries. Applicants may specify preferred affiliations but should understand that the American-Indonesian Exchange Foundation, the Fulbright office in Indonesia, will make assignments based on the best match between the expertise of selected scholars and the needs of participating institutions. Priority is given to projects of mutual interest to scholars in Indonesia and the United States. Most instruction is in English, but students have varying levels of English language proficiency. While all applicants must have a terminal degree, the American-Indonesian Educational Foundation welcomes applications from junior faculty (less than 5 years of teaching experience) and faculty from community colleges and 4-year colleges as well as from senior scholars and retired faculty.
