Program Overview:
The Fulbright Scholar Program for 2009-2010 aims to strengthen university programs critical to the development of Cambodia, which is still recovering from nearly 30 years of upheaval and civil war. Teaching experience may include work at a community college, but teaching assistant work does not qualify. See specific qualification requirements for each award listed below. Prior work experience in Cambodia or other developing countries is desirable, but not required, as is proficiency in the Khmer language. The 2009-2010 academic year will run from September 2009 to July 2010. The first semester will run from late September 2009 to mid-February 2010; the second semester will run from early March to mid-July 2010. Stipend: $1,870-$2,860 monthly base stipend, according to the standard base stipend formula.
Maintenance: Standard maintenance. $2,000-$3,000 per month, based on the number of accompanying dependents.
Travel/Relocation: Standard travel/relocation. For 2007-08, the following was provided: $2,000 for the grantee and $2,500 per person for up to two dependents who accompany the grantee for more than 80% of the entire grant period.
