Awards and Benefits
Summary:  One or more lecturing or lecturing/research awards. For research awards, see the African Regional Research Program.
Program Overview:  Candidates with a Ph.D. and at least 5 years of postdoctoral university or college teaching experience are preferred. Candidates are encouraged to correspond with potential host departments to determine whether their disciplines and specializations are of interest. The academic calendar consists of two semesters, from August to December and January to May. Several schools are available for accompanying school-age children, including, but not limited to, Enjabulweni School (K-12) in Manzini, Waterford KaMhlaba United World College of Southern Africa (secondary) in Mbabane, International Baccalaureate boarding school in Mbabane, Sifundzani School (grades 1-12) in Mbabane, Montessori school in Mbabane and Usuthu Forest School (primary) in Mhlambanyatsi.

Benefits
Stipend: $2,640-$2,860 monthly base stipend, according to the standard base stipend formula.
Maintenance: Standard maintenance. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $1,000-$1,300 per month, based on the number of dependents, plus housing and a supplemental housing allowance of $500 per month for utilities.
Travel/Relocation: Standard travel/relocation. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $6,300 for the grantee; additional dependent travel allowance of $3,500 for one accompanying dependent, $7,000 for two or more dependents.
