Program Overview:
Candidates with a Ph.D. and two or more years of university teaching experience are preferred. Professionals with these qualifications will be considered. Prior experience in developing countries is preferred. The academic year begins in September. It consists of two semesters changing in February and concluding in June, with a break in December and final exams conducted in July. Candidates are encouraged to correspond directly with the host institution to determine whether their background, experience and specializations are of interest. Applicants should also have well-developed research projects to which they can devote themselves in the event university classes are suspended. The American International School of Freetown (K-8) offers educational programs for accompanying dependent school-age children.
Stipend: $2,640-$2,860 monthly base stipend, according to the standard base stipend formula.
Maintenance: Standard maintenance. For 2007-08 the following was provided: $1,100-$1,400 per month, based on the number of accompanying dependents, plus housing or a housing allowance.
Travel/Relocation: Standard travel/relocation. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $6,800 for the grantee; additional dependent travel allowance of $4,000 for one accompanying dependent, $8,000 for two or more dependents.
