Program Overview:
Candidates with a Ph.D. and at least 3 years of postdoctoral university or college teaching experience are preferred. Experienced community college faculty and professionals will be considered at Kigali Health Institute or National University of Rwanda. The academic year begins in January at each of the four host institutions. A letter of invitation from the host institution, submitted as part of the application, is recommended but not required. The policy in Rwanda is that all students attending higher education must be bilingual. Courses are taught either in English or French at National University of Rwanda, Kigali Health Institute and Kigali Institute of Education. Students at the three institutions must attend a 4-6 month pre-university program in French or English, depending on the language of instruction in secondary education. Courses are taught in English at Kigali Institute of Science and Technology.

Stipend: $2,640-$2,860 monthly base stipend, according to the standard base stipend formula.
|
|
Maintenance: Standard maintenance. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $1,200-$1,500 per month, based on the number of dependents, plus housing and a supplemental housing allowance of $600 per month for utilities, refurbishing and repair of university housing.

|
Travel/Relocation: Standard travel/relocation. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $6,000 for the grantee; additional dependent travel allowance of $3,500 for one accompanying dependent, $7,000 for two or more dependents.
