Awards and Benefits
Summary:  One or more lecturing/research awards. For research awards, see the African Regional Research Program.
Program Overview:  Candidates with a Ph.D. and at least 3 years of postdoctoral university or college teaching experience are preferred. The school year usually begins in October and ends in June with a break at the end of December and another break in March/early April. An English language school, the American International School of Bamako (K-12), is available for accompanying school-age children.

Benefits
Stipend: $2,640-$2,860 monthly base stipend, according to the standard base stipend formula.
Maintenance: Standard maintenance. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $950-$1,250 per month, based on the number of dependents, plus a housing allowance of $1,130-$1,330 per month, based on the number of dependents.
Travel/Relocation: Standard travel/relocation. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $6,500 for the grantee; additional dependent travel allowance of $4,500 for one accompanying dependent, $9,000 for two or more dependents.
