Awards and Benefits
Summary:  Three or more lecturing/research awards. For research awards, see the African Regional Research Program.
Program Overview:  Candidates with a Ph.D. and substantial teaching and research experience are preferred for awards, but experienced junior scholars may be considered. The academic year is divided into two terms, approximately August to December and February through the end of June. Dates vary somewhat depending on the institution and are subject to change. The Lincoln Community School (grades K-12), accredited and based on an American curriculum, offers educational programs for accompanying dependent school-age children. There are several other international schools of comparable standards that offer Ghanaian and British curricula.

Benefits
Stipend: $2,640-$2,860 monthly base stipend, according to the standard base stipend formula.
Maintenance: Standard maintenance. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $800-$1,200 per month, based on the number of dependents, plus housing and a supplemental housing allowance of $480 per month for utilities, refurbishing and repair of university housing.
Travel/Relocation: Standard travel/relocation. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $6,250 for the grantee; additional dependent travel allowance of $4,250 for one accompanying dependent, $8,500 for two or more dependents.
