Program Overview:
Candidates with a Ph.D., postdoctoral university or college teaching and research experience and previous experience in developing countries in political transition are preferred. The academic year consists of two semesters: mid-October until February and February until the end of July. An English language school, the American School of Kinshasa (K-12), is available for accompanying dependent school-age children.
Stipend: $2,640-$2,860 monthly base stipend, according to the standard base stipend formula.
Maintenance: Standard maintenance. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $900-$1,200 per month, based on the number of accompanying dependents, plus a housing allowance.
Travel/Relocation: Standard travel/relocation. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $7,300 for the grantee; additional dependent travel allowance of $4,800 for one accompanying dependent, $9,600 for two or more dependents.
