Awards and Benefits
Summary:  One or more lecturing or lecturing/research awards. For research awards, see the African Regional Research Program.
Program Overview:  Candidates with a Ph.D. and at least 5 years of postdoctoral teaching experience at the university or college level are preferred. Candidates are encouraged to correspond directly with the host institution to determine whether their specializations are of interest. A letter of invitation from the host institution, submitted as part of the application, is required. The academic year generally begins in October and ends in June. English language schools, the International School of Benin and the British School, (K-12) are available for accompanying dependent K-12 school-age children.

Benefits
Stipend: $2,640-$2,860 monthly base stipend, according to the standard base stipend formula.
Maintenance: Standard maintenance. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $1,200-$1,500 per month, based on the number of dependents, plus a housing allowance of $200.
Travel/Relocation: Standard travel/relocation. For 2007-2008 the following was provided: $6,250 for the grantee; additional dependent travel allowance of $4,250 for one accompanying dependent, $8,500 for two or more dependents.
