Comments: PLEASE FOLLOW THE SPECIAL APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS PROGRAM. They can be found on the CIES Web site, www.cies.org/IEA/IEA_I.htm. Applicants must be international education administrators (e.g., foreign student advisors, study abroad advisors, foreign student admissions) or senior-level university administrators with substantial (at least 25 percent of their time) responsibility for enhancing the international dimension of their institutions. Applicants must be affiliated with a 2- or 4-year college or university or a nonprofit international education exchange organization. They must also have a minimum of 5 years of full-time work experience in international education. Directors of English language programs and instructors in such programs are not eligible. Preference is given to applicants who have not had significant professional visits to Korea in the past 5 years as well as to applicants who are based in institutions that already have some substantive connections with Korea manifested in a reasonable size population (25+) of Korean students, a study abroad program and/or linkage agreements with Korean institutions. This program is not a vehicle for initiating or developing a U.S. institution's linkage programs, for student recruitment or for establishment of branch campuses. The first week will be spent in Seoul and during the second week grantees will visit institution outside Seoul. Grantees are expected to attend an orientation program held in conjunction with the annual NAFSA conference in Los Angeles, CA in late May 2009 at their own expense.
