Grant Activity: Teach regularly scheduled courses at the graduate or undergraduate level or a series of seminars in grantee's area of specialization and participate in faculty and program development. Collaborative research with Chilean colleagues is also encouraged.
Specialization(s): Applications are welcome in all social science and humanities disciplines, including art and architecture.
Language: Good to fluent Spanish is required.
Location: Any institution in Chile, with preference for the programs listed below. Applicants may indicate preference but the Commission will arrange or confirm affilations
Length of Grant: 3 months to 6 months
Starting Date: August 2009 or March 2010 for one-semester grants; March 2010 for longer-term grants
Comments: While applicants may propose affiliation with any university in Chile, eight institutions have research groups and Ph.D. programs in social science and humanities fields: University of Chile (www.uchile.cl) has programs in the social sciences and humanities, including two new programs in psychology and Latin American Studies; Catholic University (www.puc.cl) has programs in social sciences and architecture; University of Concepcion (www.udec.cl) has a program in Latin American literature; University of Santiago (www.usach.cl) has a program in American Studies; Catholic University of the North (www.ucn.cl) has a program in anthropology; University of Tarapaca (www.uta.cl) has a program in anthropology; Catholic University of Valparaiso (www.ucv.cl) has two new programs in philosophy and literature; Alberto Hurtado University (www.uahurtado.cl) has a new program in sociology.
