Grant Activity: (1) Conduct research in area of specialization or (2) teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses or (3) do a combination of lecturing and research in any science, engineering or mathematics discipline offered at the listed host institutions. Applications are especially encouraged in public health, HIV/AIDS, engineering and technology and environmental studies. Applications are also welcome in a range of other disciplines. If teaching, contribute to curriculum development, supervise research, advise theses and provide tutorials as needed.

Length of Grant: 6 months to 11 months
Starting Date: July 2009 or January or February 2010 for 11 months preferred; grants of 6 months or more possible.
Comments: Refer to the list of the 22 universities and universities of technology found in the preceding South Africa award for Arts, Education, Humanities, Professional Fields and Social Sciences. A letter of invitation on host institution letterhead is required. Applications can propose sharing between institutions in the same geographic area; such applications must include one or more letters of invitation, confirming the willingness of the relevant parties to share. If one letter, it must indicate the potential host has communicated with the other institution(s) and all are in agreement to share. Effort is made to place Fulbright Scholars at a range of South African universities. Note that more applications are generally received from scholars proposing to work in the Western Cape than can be funded.
