Potsdam - Junior Fulbright Lectureship in American Studies

Grant Activity: Teach three undergraduate or graduate courses per semester (equals 6 teaching hours per week in the German system) in American literature and/or culture studies and within the grantee's area(s) of specialization. Other academic outreach and conference activities to be arranged in discussion with the host department and the German Fulbright Commission.
Specialization(s): American studies, social sciences including American history, culture, literature and related fields
Language: English is sufficient for lecturing.
Additional Qualifications: Preference for a younger established scholar (about 3-5 years beyond the Ph.D. or with assistant/associate professor rank) with solid teaching and research experience.

Length of Grant: 10 months

Comments: This new special award is meant to enhance the strong American studies program in Potsdam and to offer the visiting scholar the regional and international network of resources and scholars in and around Potsdam. It is an ideal position for a career oriented scholar seeking international experience who is willing to share American scholarship and teaching methods. The award is a result of a new initiative and includes a regular Fulbright grant with 2050 euro per month maintenance plus special benefits from Potsdam which include free housing, fully equipped office, assistance by the Welcome Center, a part-time student assistant and an additional cash allowance for outreach activities. Grant lasts two academic semesters (though a one semester assignment might also be possible) with benefits for 10 months.
