Length of Grant: 3 months
Starting Date: Recommended arrival time is early to mid-September. Subject to approval, the beginning date can be as late as March.
Comments: It is the applicant's responsibility to secure the required support from a host institution, which could be a Spanish news publication, broadcast station, or a university communications department, among others. Editorial or production aspects of journalism are also acceptable. The project must be specific to the 3 month term, be outlined in detail, and include the applicant's professional objectives. Any projected lectures and training seminars at a Spanish institution should be confirmed. A student visa is mandatory for U.S. citizens wishing to study in Spain for 3 months or longer. The Commission will provide detailed information and documentation for obtaining this initial visa from a Spanish consulate outside of Spain, and after the grantee's arrival, for obtaining the card of official student status for the duration of the grant.
