Grant Activity: Teach courses in area of specialization. Course load is usually one or two courses per term and possibly some tutorials.

Additional Qualifications: Associate or full professor preferred, but assistant professors with 5 years of teaching experience will be considered. Regardless of rank, applicants should be excellent undergraduate teachers.

Comments: Scholars whose work focuses on the U.S., especially those teaching American literature and culture, are encouraged to apply. Scholars in other disciplines are also welcome to apply. If the grantee's work focuses on the U.S., the grantee will be affiliated with the American Studies Program (ASP). A grantee in other disciplines will be affiliated with the appropriate academic department. A grantee placed at the ASP would teach three 13-week semester undergraduate courses including a first year course, a second year course on the American city or the road to American culture, and a senior level course, over the course of the year. Grantees are responsible for 2 hours of lectures and tutorials (up to 6 hours per semester). First year classes are large and higher level courses have 15-35 students.
