Grant Activity: Conduct collaborative research and/or teach a graduate course in the grantee's area of specialization at an institution in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Specialization(s): Preference for projects in environmental sciences, computer microelectronics, quantum computing, nanotechnology, industrial technology, higher education, public administration, political science, art education, music technology
Language: Working knowledge of Portuguese or Spanish is desired. English may be acceptable in some fields if indicated by host.
Additional Qualifications: Senior scholars (5 years postdoctoral) are preferred but junior scholars with strong records will be considered as well.
Location: Applicants must arrange affiliation and include a letter of invitation from an institution in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Length of Grant: 2 months to 4 months
Starting Date: August 2009 or March 2010
Comments: Awards are co-sponsored with FAPERGS, the Foundation for the Support of Research in Rio Grande do Sul. Brazilian hosts apply through FAPERGS to receive a visiting U.S. scholar. Proposals with a teaching component should include a sample course outline.
