The AFHE focuses its research on three major resources: physical including land, water and energy; biological including food, forests and animals; and human including individuals, families and communities. Specifically, AFHE supports four major research themes that encompass Alberta's robust physical, biological and human resources: global food systems, healthy human environments, growing the bio-products industry and sustainable land, forest and water management. Linkages between departments allow for and stimulate each theme to span the physical, biological and human aspects of the research. A letter of invitation is not required, but applicants are encouraged to contact the institution to discuss research interests.
