Grant Activity: Conduct research, develop collaborations and offer occasional guest lectures at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Specialization(s): Curriculum studies and pedagogy, testing and measurement, policy studies in education, mathematics and science education, international and global citizenship education, multicultural education, Aboriginal education, literacy education, technology integration. Applicants with an interdisciplinary research focus are also encouraged to apply.
Additional Qualifications: Junior scholars with promising research records as well as established senior scholars are encouraged to apply.
Location: Faculty of Education, University of Alberta
Length of Grant: 4 months or 9 months
Starting Date: September 2009 for academic-year grants; September 2009 or January 2010 for one-semester grants
Comments: One of the top three faculties of education in Canada, the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta has internationally recognized strengths in a variety of areas including curriculum and pedagogy, multi-modal literacies, policy development, educational measurement, international and global citizenship education, the educational needs of multicultural and Aboriginal populations, the appropriate integration of technology with scholarship and teaching and science and mathematics education. The Faculty boasts two Kaplan Professors, four researchers hold Canada Research Chairs and the Faculty was awarded one of five NSERC-funded CRYSTALs (Centres for Research in Youth, Science, Teaching and Learning). Outstanding new hires, established researchers, and strong doctoral students make the Faculty an excellent context for collaborative, ground breaking work.
