Grant Activity: Teach three courses, namely, Mass and Media Communications to approximately 15 senior undergraduates, Mass Communications Theory to approximately 10 senior undergraduates, and Introduction to Public Relations and Advertising to approximately 15 sophomores. Although research opportunities are limited, the host university will happily collaborate on research projects. In the past, the faculty at American University in Central Asia has conducted research on such topics as gender representation in the press, the historical and contemporary development and state of the mass media, and the role of journalists. Current ongoing research focuses on media's role in the political participation of Kyrgyz citizens.
Language: Language of instruction is English.
Additional Qualifications: Ph.D. and 3-5 years of teaching experience are preferred, but consideration may be given to those with a relevant master's degree and more extensive teaching and curriculum development experience.
Location: American University--Central Asia
Length of Grant: 5 months or 10 months
Starting Date: September 2009 or January 2010
