Grant Activity: Teach and conduct research jointly in both India and the U.S. with an Indian colleague in one of the fields of study involving mutual interests of India and the U.S. listed below. The principal activity will be lecturing. A detailed proposal should include joint lecturing and research activities in both countries, preferably an academic term in each country.

Location: Applicants must arrange affiliation and include letter of invitation.
Length of Grant: 4 months to 9 months
Starting Date: July or August 2009
Comments: The American applicant must submit (A) a joint proposal in which both the U.S. and Indian scholar have agreed on lecturing and research activities to be carried out in each country and (B) the detailed CV including the names of references of the Indian associate. In addition to specifying activities, the proposal should: (1) discuss the importance of the joint project to the department faculty/institution of each scholar and (2) provide any background on previous linkages between the two institutions and how this joint award would enhance an ongoing relationship or how it would create a new linkage and how both scholars intend to maintain the linkage after the grant is over; (3) present curriculum for the course or courses that the scholars either propose to teach together or that each scholar intends to teach at the other's host institution and (4) detail the research project and the projected outcome. The Indian scholar must submit a separate application to the U.S. Educational Foundation in India, New Delhi, in order for the application for this award to be complete.
