American Studies

Grant Activity: Teach three sessions per week (individual class meetings of 90 minutes each) for advanced undergraduate or graduate students in area of interest with details on content and format of courses to be arranged by host institution and lecturer. Other duties, e.g. tutorials and student advising, are negotiable and depend on the needs and expectations of the host institution and manner in which the working relationship develops.
Specialization(s): Open to all disciplines in the humanities and social sciences relevant to American studies (literature, culture, history, society, politics, etc.). The host institution is especially, but by no means exclusively, interested in candidates in cultural studies. Primary institutional affiliation may be outside of the departments of English and American studies at the host institution and is contingent upon grantee's field of specialization.
Language: Lecturing is in English.
Location: Karl-Franzens-University of Graz
Length of Grant: 4 months
Starting Date: October 2009 or March 2010
Comments: This award will rotate annually and be hosted by the Austrian university responsible for sponsoring the annual meeting of the Austrian Association of American Studies: Karl Franzens University of Graz.
