Grant Activity: Teach courses or carry out a combination of teaching and research activities. Lecturers will teach two to three graduate courses or four undergraduate courses and lecturer/researchers will teach one or two undergraduate or graduate courses. Class size is 30-50 undergraduate and 10-15 graduate students. Assist with curriculum development, thesis advising and other work as agreed upon with host institution.
Specialization(s): Applications welcome in any discipline, with priority given to American studies, English language and literature, fine arts, business administration and finance, environmental sciences, information technology, law (intellectual property rights, international trade or alternate dispute resolution), rehabilitative science, occupational therapy, strategic management, women's studies and gender studies.
Language: Applicants should have proficiency in Arabic if necessary to carry out proposed projects successfully.
Additional Qualifications: At least 5 years teaching experience preferred. Professionals who have had teaching experience will be considered.
Location: Affiliation to be determined, but applicant may indicate preference.
Length of Grant: 4 months to 10 months
Starting Date: September 2009
Comments: Lecturers in humanities, social sciences and the arts (except for those teaching American studies, English or American language and literature and associated fields) are required to have some proficiency in spoken and written Arabic. Lecturers in scientific and technological fields are not required to have knowledge of Arabic. Interpreters are not available or provided. Host institutional affiliations to be determined by the Fulbright Commission in Amman, but applicant may indicate preference or submit a letter of invitation. The commission will reconfirm all pre-established affiliations.
