Grant Activity: (1) Teach undergraduate courses in any discipline taught at the host university or (2) teach undergraduate courses in American history, literature and civilization at the teacher training school, Ecole Normale Superieure, of the University of Bamako. Assist with tutorials and senior thesis advising. Conduct research in area of specialization.
Language: While lecturing is in English in American studies, French proficiency is needed for interaction. Fluent French is required for lecturing in all other disciplines.

Comments: Candidates are encouraged to contact CIES for information and correspond directly with potential host departments to determine whether their disciplines and specializations are of interest. The University of Bamako is a relatively new institution that was created by incorporating some existing higher education centers and creating four faculties: Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry; Technical Sciences; Juridical and Economic Sciences; Languages, Arts and Humanities; and schools of Administration, Engineering and Teacher Training; and Higher Institutes. The Higher Institute of Training and Applied Research (ISFRA) offers postgraduate training.
