Grant Activity: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in any discipline taught at the host institution, including arts, humanities, social sciences and sciences. Provide tutorials, supervise student projects and advise students. Assist with developing curriculum and host department research capacity. Scholars generally teach two to three courses per semester. Conduct research in area of specialization.

Specialization(s): American literature is preferred. Class size ranges from 20-400 students, depending on annual enrollment and course level. Books are not generally available to all students. However, the U.S. Embassy has a library that may be able to stock titles requested by the grantee, and it maintains a solid inventory of American literature anthologies and other resources for use by the grantee.

Language: English is sufficient for lecturing in American literature; some level of French proficiency is useful for daily living. Fluent French is required for lecturing in other disciplines.
