Grant Activity: Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in agriculture, fisheries or any of its subfields and conduct research in area(s) of specialization. The grantee may also be asked to consult on field of specialization with the Philippine Department of Agriculture and its affiliate agencies and present seminars, lectures, or workshops.
Specialization(s): Agriculture and its various subfields, including fruit and vegetable production, horticulture, plant breeding/genetics, dairy science, pest control/entomology, animal nutrition; agriculture engineering and its various subfields, including forest engineering, handling/processing/storage of agriculture products, irrigation and drainage systems engineering, post-harvest technology, soil and water engineering, agricultural waste management, food engineering/process control; agricultural economics and its various subfields, including agribusiness, agricultural policy, farm management, natural resource economics, production economics; natural resources and its various subfields, including natural resource management, range management, fish, game and wildlife management, environmental science; veterinary medicine and its various subfields, including small-animal and large-animal medicine; and fisheries and its various subfields.
Additional Qualifications: Professionals with recent requisite 5 years of university, college and/or community college teaching experience may apply.
Location: Affiliation to be determined; will be assigned in a university in the Visayas or Mindanao.
Length of Grant: 6 months
Starting Date: June 2009 or November 2009
Comments: This award is funded by a grant from the Philippine Department of Agriculture made possible through U.S. Public Law 480. The principal objective of the award is to modernize Philippine agriculture and fisheries through educational exchanges between the Philippines and the U.S. While applicants may specify preferred institutions, the Philippine-American Educational Foundation will make assignments based on the best match between the expertise of the grantees and the needs of prospective host institutions.
