Janet A. Haner has worked with the Faculty Fulbright Program at Penn State University for the last 14 years. Her duties in this capacity are shared with managing communications and programming for the University Office of Global Programs.

In her role as Fulbright Advisor, Ms. Haner promotes the program to potential grantees, advises on grant possibilities, assists with the application process, and celebrates grantees and their accomplishments. During her tenure, Penn State has placed in the top three nationwide in outgoing scholars for 12 of the 14 years. She also coordinates an outreach program for visiting scholars, each year obtaining a U.S. State Department enrichment grant through the Fulbright Association.

An accomplished editor, writer, and graphic designer, she edits and designs Global Programs’ signature publication, International Mosaic, and numerous other newsletters, brochures, and reports. She is also responsible for oversight of a variety of programs and special events that promote and foster international education.

The recipient of two Fulbright grants, Ms. Haner took part in the U.S.-Germany International Education Administrators Program in April 2002, and the U.S.-Japan International Education Administrators Program in June 2008. Both experiences were high points in her career, inspiring renewed commitment to the cause of international educational exchange.

Ms. Haner holds an M.S. in recreation from The Pennsylvania State University, and a B.A. in English and music from St. Lawrence University. Due to her life as a military wife, she has held a variety of positions, and lived and worked in Europe for more than eight years.
