Ken Bus' career in international education began when he accepted a position teaching English as a second language in Tehran, Iran as a graduate student of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. After receiving the M.A. in TESOL from the U. of Illinois he worked for the University of Southern California, (USC) on a project in Tehran, and then for the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO) in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
After 14 years of living and working overseas, Ken returned to the United States and took a position at the University of North Texas (Denton, TX) , and then at Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, TX. He became the director of international education at Glendale Community College in Arizona in 1994 and has served in that position up to the present time. He has been actively involved with NAFSA: Association of International Educators at the state, regional, and national level and has served on various committees. He has also worked closely with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) and with the Center for the Global Advancement of Community Colleges (CGACC) on international education projects.
