Dr. Lewis received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1996, and is currently Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Economics at Chulalongkorn University, where she teaches classes in macroeconomics and banking and does research in the areas of microfinance, weather index insurance and monetary economics. Previously she worked as Senior Vice President and Head of Research in the Risk Management Group at Siam Commercial Bank and was a Country Economist for the Asia Development Bank from 2002 – 2003 and a Financial Economist in the Governance, Finance and Trade Division from 2003 - 2007 at the Asia Development Bank in Manila. Dr. Lewis has also been Head of Research at Krung Thai Asses Management Company and was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics and Thammasat University in Thailand from 1998-1999. Dr. Lewis has received numerous fellowships, including the Yokohama National University Department of Economics, a Morton Scholarship at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, the Harvard-Yenching Institute Fellowship, and the Japanese Government’s Ministry of Education Scholarship. She received the Gold Medal Award for Best Economics Student from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand.
